The exhibition - “Once Upon a Time at Ichihara”, is a third edition of Ichihara Lakeside Museum Children's Art Exhibition. It showcases 300 selected Ichihara Children’s drawings out of more than 2000 entries. With this specific theme, families and schools shared some stories of Ichihara’s history with children. Together with their imagination, they created brand new interpretations of Ichihara’s past with drawings.
In the exhibition, there are several experimental activity spaces which were designed with the object / landscape from selected drawing.
For instance, making a traditional Dancing Lion, being a train driver of Kominato train, the posture of cleaning the school floor, making rainbow, drawing “what does a monster eat?” , toy from the nature, play fishing, Making new Ichihara city, etc…
Through these scenes and objects from the children drawings, adults and children could remind their personal memory, family history, cultural moment, development and the lost of city history. By playing with the activities in the exhibition, adults and children also imagine and construction the positive future of Ichihara city.
With such fascinating collection of drawings, it was designer’s hope that the exhibition could open up dialogues among every visitor, no matter young or old, and perhaps, it would connect to a new creative future.
